Earlier today my buddy Nick Redfern sent me a link to a photo (right) of a humanoid “cryptid” he had posted on his blog recently, which in reality is one of a bizarre series of statues that adorn the twists and turns of a particular cave system open for tours below England. “What was interesting was the intricately woven tale that accompanied the picture when it was mailed to me,” Nick recounts. “I forget the precise details now, but it all revolved around the claim that intelligent, sword-wielding cryptids were roaming the many and varied caves that exist deep below the British Isles. The letter ran to 2 or 3 pages – and was, of course, all complete nonsense. So, if you too have ever been on the receiving end of this photo, just enjoy it for what it is: a piece of man-made entertainment and nothing else!”
Recently I also received an email from a Gralien Report reader named Jacob with some questions about my views regarding the biblical Nephilim; especially in conjunction with reports of hominid relics and cryptozoology, as well as tensions building in the great surge toward 2012. According to Mark Wickstrom in his book The Gospel of Grace, there are three common views regarding what the Nephilim were:
1) They were the offspring of fallen angels and human women.
2) They were the hybrid offspring of descendants of Seth with those of Cain.
3) They are not historical figures and are ancient imagery with questionable meaning.

AOL News is now reporting on former NASA astronaut Edgar Mitchell’s most recent admission that aliens are visiting Earth. According the AOL News piece, “Earth Day may fall later this week, but as far as former NASA astronaut Edgar Mitchell and other UFO enthusiasts are concerned, the real story is happening elsewhere. Mitchell, who was part of the 1971 Apollo 14 moon mission, asserted Monday that extraterrestrial life exists, and that the truth is being concealed by the United States and other governments.”
According to the LA Times Magazine, a multitude of UFO sightings over and near the vicinity of Groom Lake, Nevada, home of the infamous Area 51 base, can be attributed to something far-less cosmic than what many witnesses have presumed to be “UFOs” or extraterrestrial craft for several decades. Former Area-51 employees now state that the “A-12 Oxcart,” an experimental craft designed and tested during the 1960s, was actually at the heart of the UFO debate.
Recently while pondering strange objects of esoterica, I came across a historical article regarding Elizabeth Bathory, the Hungarian “Blood Countess”, whose grisly crimes against virgin peasant girls (the blood of which she believed could be used to preserve her own youth) secured her the title of the most prolific female serial-killer in history. Whether it be due to the fact that Bathory abducted her victims by the cover of night, or perhaps for some other less-obvious reason, somehow I began brainstorming what kinds of parallels might exist between modern Ufology and Vampires (obviously referencing the fact that at least most UFO abductions are reported at night, and often in people’s homes, much like vampires entering a maiden’s window under the cover of darkness). Initially, I only managed to muster the following points of parallel:
