The recent “We the People” petition didn’t manage to make any progress regarding final proof that extraterrestrial life does actually exist… while we’ve addressed this on recent editions of our weekly program, this week’s show may offer something that DOES actually prove we’ve made contact. This sounds familiar… following a dismissal by government officials of there being any extraterrestrial presence on Earth, journalist Leslie Kean, author of the book UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record, has shared her own thoughts as to why the well-intended (but inherently flawed) “We the People” petition calling for alien disclosure failed. As usual, Leslie is right on the money with her analysis, as well as her criticisms of the poor wording of the petition, and expressed virtually the same sentiment that I did in this article here at The Gralien Report only a few weeks ago.
“I don’t think the majority of us really expected that the White House would be forthcoming with any evidence of extraterrestrials they might have,” I wrote on November 6th, “and to be clear, whether or not extraterrestrials have anything to do with the greater UFO mystery, despite popular opinions on the subject, remains unclear. That’s why it is the opinion of this humble ufologist that, while disappointing to some in the field, the White House response is neither surprising, nor is it inaccurate.”
In keeping with my own sentiments expressed above, Leslie Kean wrote an excellent piece that appeared at the Huffington Post recently, in which she said that, “Thousands of people signed on to the assumptions that extraterrestrial beings have been secretly talking to our government or somehow are involved with the whole human race. Try thinking about these bizarre and murky statements from the perspective of a scientifically-oriented government official. A recent petition seeking to garner support for release of ET and UFO information by the U.S. Government has garnered the typical response from Washington: There’s still no evidence that extraterrestrials are in the equation.
Gralien Report writer Matthew Oakley touched on this a few weeks ago in his article on the subject, and whether any favorable response could be expected. According to the official statement, issued by White House Office of Science and Technology Policy staffer Phil Larson, “The U.S. government has no evidence that any life exists outside our planet, or that an extraterrestrial presence has contacted or engaged any member of the human race. In addition, there is no credible information to suggest that any evidence is being hidden from the public’s eye.” The statement appeared at the WhiteHouse.gov website.
