UPDATE: In addition to the video above, another video appearing on YouTube, submitted to us by Gralien Report reader Gary (see comments section below) strongly suggests the objects above are merely fireworks. Many have suggested that the objects were kites with flares attached; however, the fireballs witnessed here seem to travel far too quickly out of range for the possibility of a tethered kite to match their behavior. The firework explanation, on the other hand, seems spot-on.
Hailing from the Project Bluebook era of ufology, the term “Green Fireballs” details an entire variety of UFOs unto themselves, and as the name illustrates already, such reports involved green glowing or burning objects seen flying through the air. These reports generally stemmed from the American southwest during the late 1940s and early 1950s, and while bearing similarity to meteors in their characteristics, the objects often took strange flight paths that gave the impression to observers that the “craft” were capable of defying the gravitational pull of the Earth, which would normally steer the obvious descent of a typical meteoroid.
While their identity remains unconfirmed even in the present, reports of such “anomalous fireball” occurrences are less often reported in modern times. However, the video above, linked to the GodLike Productions website recently, seems to show a series of “fireballs” flying in formation over a beach. The objects were allegedly filmed over Adygeysk, Russia, some time during the month of November. More details can be found here.

This sounds familiar… following a dismissal by government officials of there being any extraterrestrial presence on Earth, journalist Leslie Kean, author of the book UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record, has shared her own thoughts as to why the well-intended (but inherently flawed) “We the People” petition calling for alien disclosure failed. As usual, Leslie is right on the money with her analysis, as well as her criticisms of the poor wording of the petition, and expressed virtually the same sentiment that I did in this article here at The Gralien Report only a few weeks ago.
“I don’t think the majority of us really expected that the White House would be forthcoming with any evidence of extraterrestrials they might have,” I wrote on November 6th, “and to be clear, whether or not extraterrestrials have anything to do with the greater UFO mystery, despite popular opinions on the subject, remains unclear. That’s why it is the opinion of this humble ufologist that, while disappointing to some in the field, the White House response is neither surprising, nor is it inaccurate.”
In keeping with my own sentiments expressed above, Leslie Kean wrote an excellent piece that appeared at the Huffington Post recently, in which she said that, “Thousands of people signed on to the assumptions that extraterrestrial beings have been secretly talking to our government or somehow are involved with the whole human race. Try thinking about these bizarre and murky statements from the perspective of a scientifically-oriented government official. How is he to make sense of such absurd requests?” The entire article can be viewed by clicking here.

A recent petition seeking to garner support for release of ET and UFO information by the U.S. Government has garnered the typical response from Washington: There’s still no evidence that extraterrestrials are in the equation.
Gralien Report writer Matthew Oakley touched on this a few weeks ago in his article on the subject, and whether any favorable response could be expected. According to the official statement, issued by White House Office of Science and Technology Policy staffer Phil Larson, “The U.S. government has no evidence that any life exists outside our planet, or that an extraterrestrial presence has contacted or engaged any member of the human race. In addition, there is no credible information to suggest that any evidence is being hidden from the public’s eye.” The statement appeared at the WhiteHouse.gov website.
I don’t think the majority of us really expected that the White House would be forthcoming with any evidence of extraterrestrials they might have… and to be clear, whether or not extraterrestrials have anything to do with the greater UFO mystery, despite popular opinions on the subject, remains unclear. That’s why it is the opinion of this humble ufologist that, while disappointing to some in the field, the White House response is neither surprising, nor is it inaccurate. Here’s why…

Recently on our special Halloween edition of The Gralien Report Podcast, I took time to discuss one of our group’s latest observations of strange earth-light phenomenon in the Linville Gorge wilderness, located near the towns of Morganton and Linville Falls in Western North Carolina. By their popular name, these strange illuminations that often resemble ball-lightning are known as “The Brown Mountain Lights.” However, to be more accurate, the odd glowing manifestations occur all throughout the region, and are seen under a variety of different circumstances, atmospheric conditions, etc (for more information about this unique phenomenon, visit this site).
The recent viewing we discussed on the program involved a visit Gralien Field Correspondent Christopher McCollum and I made the evening of October 30-31st. The two instances of illumination we observed on this occasion did not appear to be rising above the tree line, as described in more remarkable eyewitness testimony reported over the years; nonetheless, we were able to see what appeared to be strange looking, white and amber-colored lights moving along the ridges and valleys below our lookout point at Wiseman’s View (a popular vantage for viewing the lights, located near the town of Linville Falls).
The objects or illuminations we observed remain unidentified, and we accept that there are more likely to be prosaic explanations for what was seen. Nonetheless, in an effort to help determine better what the source of the lights we were observing may have been, Christopher McCollum has provided the following commentary, along with satellite imagery that details the specific regions of interest, and his own thoughts regarding what their underlying cause may have been:
