Obama Pick Arouses Suspicions Among Conspiracy Theorists
Politico.com reported today that a new conspiracy theory surrounding President Barack Obama is now making the rounds, this time involving the secretive Bilderberger group and its operations. As reported to Politco by journalist Kenneth P. Vogel, “It sounds crazy, but that’s what a group of very persistent conspiracy theorists insists, and they point to President Obama’s nominee for Health and Human Services Secretary, Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, as the latest piece of evidence supporting their claims.”

Sebelius has attended past Bilderberger annual meetings, in addition to other top administration economists that include Timothy Geithner, Larry Summers and Paul Volcker. Two of President Obama’s leading diplomats, Richard Holbrooke and Dennis Ross, are also Bilderbergers. But perhaps no Obama administration staff member is more reputed for her involvement with the group than Hillary Clinton, whose husband former President Bill Clinton also attends the group’s meetings.
Texas Congressman Ron Paul, formerly a 2008 Republican Presidential hopeful, recently went on the record discussing the decision, saying “The one thing that concerns me is that the people who surround Obama or Bush generally come from the same philosophic viewpoint and they have their organizations – they have the Trilateral Commission, the CFR [Council on Foreign Relations] and the Bilderbergers, and they’ve been around a long time. And my biggest concern is what they preach: Keynesian economics and interventionism and world planning.” According to Paul, the real threat these organizations present is ideological, but so far as popular conspiracy theories go, he admitted to Politico that “I don’t laugh at the people who claim that they understand the connections, but I’ve never really spent much time tracing that through.” Paul remains an icon among conspiracy theorists, who find favor in his views regarding non-interventionist foreign policy and other Libertarian principles.
Is it mere coincidence that Obama continues to surround himself with members of the Bilderberger organization? At times like this, I from time to time find myself wondering “what would Jim Marrs think of all this?”
