Large Fossilized Footprint Draws Academic Interest
Dr. Jeff Meldrum, Associate Professor of Anatomy and Anthropology and Adjunct Associate Professor of the Department of Anthropology at Idaho State University, has now taken an interest in a rather large fossil footprint discovered recently in Tennessee:

Harold Jackson, the TN resident who discovered the fossilized track, is described as an amateur archaeologist with a passion for digging up arrow heads on his property near the Caney Fork River. Interestingly, “Caney Fork” is also the name of a road in WNC about an hour from where I live that is home to a different kind of relic, one called “Judaculla Rock”, named after the Cherokee Indian’s god of the hunt. Judaculla (or Tsulkalu, as the natives called him) was described as a slant-eyed giant, and many legends among the Cherokees in the area describe giants who sometimes traveled throughout the mountains centuries ago.
Jackson’s own giant find snuck up on him, only after several years of lurking “right under his nose.” For months he had been stepping on a rock near his house which he said sometimes “caught his eye.” Eventually he ended up dragging the rock home, and after all of the mud and sediment was cleaned off of it, “a remarkable discovery was revealed,” reports WSMV News out of Nashville.
Jackson also says his find has confirmed his own belief in the mysterious creature known as Bigfoot. Is his print indeed a fossilized Sasquatch track, or is it something else?
UPDATE: I must say it’s interesting to note that, in spite of the following information taken from the article I linked above, I have not found where Meldrum publicly said he wanted to look at this print:
About half-a-dozen scientists said they want to look at the print, including Dr. Jeffrey Meldrum, a famous Bigfoot professor at Idaho State University. Meldrum collects Bigfoot prints from all over the world.
They turn right around and say this:
Channel 4 has yet to reach Meldrum or Tennessee state archaeologist Nick Fielder to comment on the artifact.
Bloggers Loren Coleman and Zoo Knudsen are calling this “pseudojournalism”, on account of the report being issued without Meldrum ever actually being reached for a statement. But my question is, has anyone seen a statement anywhere from Meldrum saying he wants to see the alleged fossil? After searching the web, I couldn’t find any direct quote, though the WSMV news article, as well as Coleman’s Cryptomundo blog, do appear in the searches discussing the story. Just because I can’t find any quotes, doesn’t mean it couldn’t be out there someplace. I’d be interested in seeing if anybody else happens to see any such quote from Jeff Meldrum about this reported find. Send me an email at info@gralienreport.com.
