Will the White House Respond? Notes and Asides from the News Desk of Matthew Oakley
Gralien Report field correspondent and program engineer Matthew Oakley shares his summations regarding the latest exopolitical attempts at government disclosure of extraterrestrial visitation to Earth.
Since the beginning of time, man has looked to the heavens in search of answers to life-changing questions. Even with the progression of society and science, many of life’s great answers are still believed to lie in the stars, much as it has been for many generations before ours.
Within the next several days, Halloween will be upon us; witches, zombies, ghouls, and goblins will all take flight on the evening of October 31st. However, the strange goings on of All Hallows Eve may end up being overshadowed by what could possibly be a monumental breakthrough regarding a question that mankind has asked for generations: is Earth being visited by extraterrestrial life?
The Paradigm Research Group is an exopolitical group that has been working on the disclosure of information regarding extraterrestrials since it was started in 1996. The group advocates “an end to the government imposed embargo of the facts surrounding an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race”. Created by Stephen Bassett, a political activist and lobbyist, the group has fought to raise awareness of the UFO phenomena in many ways, including the creation of a political action committee known as the XPPAC, or the Extraterrestrial Phenomena Political Action Committee.
Starting in late September the PRG began an “ET Petition”, demanding a full disclosure of information from all government bodies, regarding the presence of extraterrestrial life in the universe. Petitions of this nature are given thirty days by the government, to meet a five thousand signature minimum, in turn generating an “official response” from the White House. The official White House website states that once these criteria are met, the petitions will be addressed in a timely manner, though these responses may take up to several weeks. This new petition from the PRG went far beyond the set criteria; four days into the thirty-day period, the group had already exceeded the minimum five thousand-signatures, and by the end of the thirtieth day, they had accumulated over eleven thousand. Interested parties can still sign the petition, even though the deadline is up, by visiting the website of the PRG.
Though speculation has resulted in a wide range of potential scenarios, the general consensus seems to be that President Obama may issue an “official response” on Tuesday October 25th, during a planned visit to Denver, CO (however, the opinion of this writer is that there will be no public address made at all). In the same section that “guarantees” a prompt response to the petition, it states that “All responses will be posted in this section of the We the People platform, and if you signed a petition that we respond to, you’ll get an email from the White House to with the response.” No stipulation, unfortunately, is ever made that the disclosure will in fact be public. Could this point to a potential for misinformation, issued by the federal government using the convenient ambiguity of the Internet? This, of course, is only one of many possibilities; however, all must be considered in preparation for the response.
The story has been mentioned already by such mainstream outlets as The Huffington Post, The Daily Mail, The Wall Street Journal, & Fox News. Even though the final response is almost guaranteed to not make headline news, it is promising that such major outlets are at least raising awareness about an issue that many have held near and dear for decades. Could we finally be seeing the resolve that so many have been waiting for?
Unfortunately, hope can only outweigh truth for so long; the truth, of course, being that we may never know the depths of the government’s files on the UFO and extraterrestrial phenomena… but that with any luck, organizations like The Paradigm Research Group may begin to help chip away at the bigger picture, one (small) piece at a time.

I signed the petition. I don’t think it will amount to anything, but since it only took away 5 minutes of my life, I consider it a small price to pay on behalf of the UFO community
Maybe Whitley Strieber is right. In his novel ‘The Grays’ it was the aliens themselves the ones blackmailing the governments not to disclose their presence to the public, or they would destroy the planet.
But more likely neither such threats nor open contact has never been established ;and perhaps that’s the thing that irritates them the most, how these visitors don’t give a damn about ‘sensible’ diplomatic protocols, and prefer to keep to their relations with Bubba Joe the farmer, and Mary Lee the secretary –much to the chagrin of Stephen the physicist

The sad thing is that the government is to paranoid to release much. How sad that is. Someday we are going to have to face the reality that et exists and will eventually make themselves known, one way or the other.
