Glenn Beck Show | May 2008 from KAIN Admin on Vimeo.

On the weekly Gralien Report Podcast, the notion that mankind will begin to merge with machines in our not-too-distant future has been (and no doubt will continue to be) a topic of specific interest. We see ourselves merging with technology and information systems around us on a daily basis, and at what is increasingly becoming an alarming rate.

Therefore, I was very interested when people kept directing me toward what may be one of those “next pieces” in the proverbial puzzle: a man named Ray Kurzweil. Above is a link to a interview appearance with Kurzweil on Glenn Beck’s television program from 2008. For those who aren’t already familiar with the man and his work (including books like The Age of Spiritual Machines and The Coming Singularity), this interview serves as a very nice primer.

Will mankind eventually merge entirely with the data systems we’re innovating today, and become a veritable “homo mechanicus” in the world of tomorrow as a result?

  1. I believe that this is definitely going to really happen. The thing about it is this: What will mankind look like in 100 years? You could scan a document with your eyes and then transmit across the world almost “telepathically”.
